Scope of   Community Outreaches

Our outreaches cover the areas of Kansanga, Kabalagala, Muyenga, Bukasa, Kiwafu, Lukuli, Nanganda, Konge, Katuuso, Bbunga, Kalungu, Kawuuku, Ggaba, Buziga, Kirudu, and  Munyonyo. The department works hand in hand with other departments of the church to reach out to the people within these areas. It is our desire to have citizens who are healthy, both spiritually and physically and who are equipped with life skills that will enhance them to reach their full potential.

Community Background.

Some of the people living within the church’s catchment area and spiritual responsibility live in peri-urban areas that are characterized by a cyclic form of impoverishment due to especially social and economic backgrounds. Most of the people are migrants from other areas of the country. Due to their low educational levels, most of them lack employable skills and as such, a big percentage are generally unemployed. Even those that have small jobs are employed mainly in unskilled casual work. Some of them derive their livelihood from small scale (retail) stalls erected along major roads in trading centers, while others are market vendors. Delinquent behaviors such as drug addiction, alcoholism, sexual immorality, early pregnancies etc. are common leading to increased vulnerability to poverty and HIV/AIDS. It’s a mobile community; people come in and go out in search for cheap shelters to settle in as they look for casual work in the city.
