The Israelite’s had multiplied greatly and they had become numerous in Egypt and the King (Pharaoh) thought at one point they would connive with their enemies to fight against them in case of any breakout of war and so he decided to put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor. however, the more the Israelite’s were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread.
As if the forced labor wasn’t enough, the King went ahead to tell the Hebrew midwives (Shiphrah and Puah) to kill every boy child as they helped the the Hebrew women to deliver (Exodus 1:15-21) but because Shiphrah and Puah feared God, they could not do so they let the boys live.
Shiphrah and Puah didn’t not fear what the King would have done to them but had reverence for God and because of this God was able to protect them. When the King summoned them God gave them what to say and they told the King that the Hebrew women were not like Egyptian women that the Hebrew women were Vigorous and could give birth before they midwives arrive.
Because of this God protected the two midwives and even blessed them with their own families.
This gives us the assurance that when we fear God and reverence Him in whatever we do regardless of what human beings require of us, He will always be faithful to protect us, to guide us and bless us.
Therefore may we always trust in God, have faith in Him and know that He is God. Stick to what God requires of us and not human beings, do everything with the fear of God and not fear for man and He’ll bless us exceedingly, abundantly and more than what we can imagine or think.
